Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, established by The Research Grants Council (RGC) of the HKSAR, aims at recruiting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD study in Hong Kong.
The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,600), and conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~US$1,300) per year for the awardees for a maximum of three years. In addition, Fellowship recipients at CityU will be awarded the “Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship”, which covers students' first year tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees.
For CityU nominees not selected by RGC for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, they will be eligible to compete for CityU’s “Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies PhD Fellowship”, which offers a studentship that is equivalent to the stipend amount offered by the RGC for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HK$20,400; ~2,615).

| 1 December 2011 | Deadline for submitting initial application to the RGC and obtain a reference number by applicants. |
| 10 December 2011 | Deadline for submitting full application to CityU through CityU’sOnline Admission System. |
| Early March 2011 | Notification of results by the RGC |
